We’ll I’ve arrived and retrieved Gopher III from My friend Theresa’s place and unpacked everything and loaded up. I’m ready to go! I will be making this journey with Cyndi Graves from near Dallas Texas, it is her first Transcon, she is excited! Her Husband David is here to see us off.
Two weeks from today we will be standing on the Venice Beach Pier facing east, then we’ll be
taking that first step!
It is official Cyndi Graves and I will be starting our crossing on April 1, 2015. We will depart the Venice Beach Pier located at the end of Washington Blvd in West Los Angeles, CA at 0700 local time or 1400 UTC… I will be using a Spot Gen 3 tracker which will be updating our position every 10 minutes (turned off about 1 hour before the end of our days for safety!). I am currently planning another crossing, basically the same route, in 2015.
I will be accompanying Cyndi Graves from Texas on this journey.
Cyndi has completed “The Last Annual Vol State Road Race” several times and is where I met her.
She has wanted to do this for some time. Her husband who has crewed her in her Vol State runs is not able to take the time to crew her on a Trans Continental run so she asked me if I would let her accompany me on a future one. I agree so will probably be doing this either February or April 2015. Personally I’d like to do it in 75 days or less but am not making a race of it. I do these runs for purely enjoyment reasons.
More details as they become available.
Recently my database encountered fatal errors. I have repaired the database and all is back up and running normal.
I arrived in Scotland and am now taking the train to Wick. Tomorrow I will take off in Wick and start my journey Saturday around 7:00am.
Updated every ten minutes
I am planning on making another attempt at walk/running from John O’Groats Scotland to Land’s End England.
Tentatively starting around May 9th, 2014.
Approximate distance is 860 miles and I will do basically the same course I did in 2012, which is similar to the race of the same name.
Basically since I don’t have time to finish the whole journey and It is very cost prohibitive to change my flight back to extend my trip I have come up with this revisement.
I will go as originally planned to Bristol England then instead of heading south west toward Land’s End I will head South East toward Southampton England finishing on the water there. It will be approximately 715 miles total… Also this will make it easier to get back to London for my flight home…
