I have my airline and hotel reservations made. I moved the start date one day to give some recovery from the Strolling Jim 40 race.
I’ll be starting May 9, 2019 at 0700.

Starting hopefully on May 8, 2019 I’ll be starting my next Journey Run. I will be mostly following the Underground Railroad Bike Trail from Mobile, AL to Owens Sound, Ontario Canada.
A journey run to me is basically a hike with a bit of running thrown in. I’m not trying for any “speed” records. This is a sightseeing tour for me.
I will be posting pictures on my Facebook page.
I plan on finishing at least a week before “The Last Annual Vol State Road Race” to give me some rest time.
You will be able to follow.me via my Spot Gen 3 tracker, with 10 minute updates.
Tracking site is here: Tracking Site
I will be participating in the Trans-America Bike Race starting on June 3, 2017. The race start is in Astoria, Oregon and will finish in Yorktown, Virginia. In between it will cover 4300 miles and I hope to finish between 29 and 36 days.
The race, unlike the better known R.A.A.M. race is fully self-supported. No crews are allowed.
The race will have live tracking of all participants, I will post the URL to the tracking on my Facebook page when they announce it. Also you can track me individually at http://tinyurl.com/vbultrarunner
I will be running “The Long Way Down” starting June 1, 2016 and continuing for the rest of June. It is a 30 day stage run from John O’Groats (Scotland) to Lands End (England) and cutting across the eastern edge of Wales. This will be about 90% Trail run with the first 2 or 3 days on roads. It is approximately 1150 miles and we’ll average around 38 miles a day.
I will be running with a back pack carrying everything. I will resupply food and water at towns along the way.
I will be carrying my Spot Tracker with me and you will be able to follow me at the following web address.

Two weeks from today we will be standing on the Venice Beach Pier facing east, then we’ll be
taking that first step!
It is official Cyndi Graves and I will be starting our crossing on April 1, 2015. We will depart the Venice Beach Pier located at the end of Washington Blvd in West Los Angeles, CA at 0700 local time or 1400 UTC… I will be using a Spot Gen 3 tracker which will be updating our position every 10 minutes (turned off about 1 hour before the end of our days for safety!). You can track us at: http://tinyurl.com/vbultrarunner
I am currently planning another crossing, basically the same route, in 2015.
I will be accompanying Cyndi Graves from Texas on this journey.
Cyndi has completed “The Last Annual Vol State Road Race” several times and is where I met her.
She has wanted to do this for some time. Her husband who has crewed her in her Vol State runs is not able to take the time to crew her on a Trans Continental run so she asked me if I would let her accompany me on a future one. I agree so will probably be doing this either February or April 2015. Personally I’d like to do it in 75 days or less but am not making a race of it. I do these runs for purely enjoyment reasons.
More details as they become available.
John
